Old regime: Nil up to ₹2.5L, 5% (₹2.5-5L), 20% (₹5-10L), 30% above ₹10L. Standard deduction ₹50,000. Full rebate if taxable income is ≤ ₹5L. Allows deductions like 80C, 80D, HRA.
Deduction ceilings applied above: 80C ₹1,50,000 · 80CCD(1B) ₹50,000 · 80D ₹25,000 each for self and parents (₹50,000 where the person is 60+) · 24(b) home loan interest ₹2,00,000 · 80TTA ₹10,000 (₹50,000 under 80TTB at 60+). Anything entered above a ceiling is disallowed and listed in the summary. Sections 80G, 80DD, 80DDB and 80U depend on facts this calculator doesn't ask for, so they sit under “Other deductions” uncapped — verify those separately.
